Are you excited by the idea of building the data foundation that an entire AI-powered product runs on — from the very first pipeline? Marketing at Amazon spans a huge range of independent businesses, and the data behind it is scattered across agencies, vendors, and platforms. It is slow to collect, inconsistent, and nearly impossible to see as a whole. We are a new team setting out to fix that.

As a Software Development Engineer II, you will design and build the services that automatically pull this data together, clean and normalize it, and make it ready for AI agents to summarize and turn into actionable insights. You will own your work end-to-end, from understanding the problem to deploying and operating production systems, while helping shape the technical direction of a product that marketing teams across Amazon will rely on.

Key job responsibilities

• Design and build data ingestion pipelines and APIs that collect, normalize, and unify marketing data from dozens of external agencies, vendors, and platforms.


• Develop services that prepare clean, structured data for consumption by AI agents, enabling plain-language analytics for marketing teams across Amazon.


• Identify and resolve root causes of operational issues, driving permanent fixes and continuously improving system reliability and data quality.


• Mentor and coach other engineers through code reviews and design discussions, helping establish best practices as the team grows.


• Collaborate with product, data science, and marketing stakeholders to translate business needs into well-scoped technical solutions using big data technologies such as Spark and Hadoop.

A day in the life

You might start your morning reviewing a teammate's pull request for a new data connector, then shift into designing the schema changes needed to onboard a new vendor feed. After lunch you dig into a data-quality anomaly, trace it back to an upstream format change, and ship a fix along with an automated check to catch similar issues in the future. Because this is a new team building from scratch, you will also have a hand in choosing frameworks, setting coding standards, and shaping the architecture that everything else is built on.

About The Team

We are a small, newly formed team within Amazon's marketing organization with a big mandate: bring together fragmented marketing data from across the company and put AI-powered analytics on top of it. Our goal is to give marketing teams a single, trustworthy source of truth they can query in plain language.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience


• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience


• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience


• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience


• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience


• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field


• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience


• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
