Job summary

Amazon Web Services, Inc. is seeking a Software Development Engineer to design and deliver ML-powered data solutions within the Atlas team of the SMGS-IDEAS org.

You will build scalable, secure microservices and contribute to architecture and data-driven features across AWS services. The role emphasizes first-principles design, strong coding standards, and collaboration across field teams to power AWS customers worldwide.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling).
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Design solutions to complex and ambiguous data challenges from first principles.
  • Build highly available, secure, distributed systems in microservices and distributed architectures.
  • Apply Machine Learning to solve data problems at scale.
  • Work with AWS technologies (Glue, S3, RedShift, DynamoDB, ElasticSearch, Lambda, SQS, SNS, API Gateway).
  • Apply software development best practices in quality and security.
  • Contribute to planning, design, implementation, testing, operations in a Scrum team.
  • Define system architecture and own components for a data-focused product.

AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers. The SMGS team interacts with leading companies and believes that world-class support is critical to customer success. The Atlas team within the SMGS-IDEAS org is focused on building a centralized system of reference for some of the core data domains, that power the activities of our world-class selling and field teams.

We’re looking for a Software Development Engineer to design and deliver solutions that combine machine learning, distributed big data technologies, and web application/service development. We\'re building solutions to achieve amazing feats with data, to enable us to arm our field teams with the actionable intelligence needed to engage and serve every possible AWS customer in the world, to the fullest.

Key job responsibilities
  • Design solutions to complex and ambiguous data challenges, starting from first principles
  • Build highly available, secure, distributed systems in microservices, container, and distributed cluster-compute architectures
  • Apply Machine Learning to solve challenging data problems at scale
  • Work with AWS technologies such as Glue, S3, RedShift, DynamoDB, ElasticSearch, Lambda, SQS, SNS, API Gateway, Quick and more
  • Apply software development best practices in terms of quality and security
  • Utilize object-oriented software design to build scalable, maintainable systems
  • Contribute to planning, design, implementation, testing, operations, and process improvement as a member of a Scrum team
  • Play an instrumental role in defining system architecture, own and implement specific components, and help shape the overall user experience for a data-focused product

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • Bachelor\'s degree in computer science or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
