Job summary

Zillow is seeking a Senior Specialist II, Software Engineering (Full Stack) to design, build, and maintain end-to-end web applications across front-end and back-end layers, delivering scalable and reliable experiences for customers and internal users.

You will collaborate with product, design, data, and other engineers, write clean code, participate in reviews, and contribute to architecture and engineering practices while mentoring peers and promoting an inclusive culture.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering building and supporting web applications or services.
• Experience working across front-end and back-end components using modern web technologies (JavaScript/TypeScript + server-side language).
• Understanding Gen AI capabilities – building applications across NLP and computer vision.
• Proficiency with LangChain or LlamaIndex - building apps using LLM APIs.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain full stack features and services, implementing user interfaces and APIs that are performant, secure, and easy to operate in production.
• Collaborate with product, design, data, and peer engineering teams to refine requirements, break down work, and deliver iterative improvements that enhance customer and business outcomes.
• Write clean, testable, and maintainable code; create and maintain automated tests; and participate in code reviews to uphold engineering standards and best practices.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize applications and services in production, using logs, metrics, and alerts to improve reliability, performance, and developer experience.
• Contribute to technical design discussions, documentation, and implementation plans for moderately complex features and systems, providing options and trade-off analysis.
• Mentor and support peers through pairing, knowledge sharing, and constructive feedback, helping to elevate team capabilities and inclusive engineering culture.

About the role

The Specialist II, Software Engineering, Full Stack designs, builds, and maintains end-to-end web applications across front-end and back-end layers, enabling scalable, reliable, and high-quality experiences for Zillow customers and internal users. Full stack engineers at this level apply seasoned technical judgment, collaborate closely with product and cross-functional partners, and contribute to code quality, operational excellence, and incremental improvements to system design and team practices.

Location & Contract

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. Remote employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions. In California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $136,300.00 - $217,700.00 annually. This base pay range is specific to these locations and may not be applicable to other locations. In Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Minnesota, Nevada, Ohio, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Virginia the standard base pay range for this role is $129,500.00 - $206,900.00 annually. The base pay range is specific to these locations and may not be applicable to other locations. In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location. Employees in this role will not be paid below the salary threshold for exempt employees in the state where they reside.

Salary and Equity

In California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $136,300.00 - $217,700.00 annually.

In Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Minnesota, Nevada, Ohio, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Virginia the standard base pay range for this role is $129,500.00 - $206,900.00 annually.

Who you are

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering building and supporting web applications or services.
• Experience working across both front-end and back-end components using modern web technologies (for example, JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks plus at least one server‑side language or framework).
• Experience contributing to the full software development lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support in a collaborative team environment.
• Understanding Gen AI capabilities - Building applications across NLP and computer vision.
• Proficiency with LangChain or LlamaIndex - Building apps using LLM APIs.
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
