Amazon Kuiper Manufacturing Enterprises LLC is seeking a Software Development Engineer - Embedded for the Amazon Leo program. You will design and develop embedded software, write system applications for satellite components, and scale SpaceSDK to support growing satellite systems.

The role involves developing monitoring, telemetry, and security features, collaborating with software and hardware teams, and solving challenging issues in space environments.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.

Amazon Leo is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite network. Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. SpaceSDK is a framework for generating, building, and running software applications for satellite components. SpaceSDK is used by applications across Amazon Leo systems to manage concurrency, inter process communication and to provide common functionality.

Key job responsibilities

• Design and develop embedded software in Rust, C++, or other modern languages.

A day in the life

We are a fast paced team working on developing and maintaining a critical software framework used by key components on a satellite. We like to solve challenging software engineering problems, as well as root cause failures on in-orbit satellites and help mission control recover satellites.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
