Role

Amazon Devices Software & Services is seeking a Software Development Engineer II to build AI-native infrastructure and services that power ambient intelligence across devices (Alexa, Fire TV, mobile, wearables). You will design and implement model and tool integrations, agent execution loops, evaluation and quality pipelines, and APIs consumed by product teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and operate scalable backend services and libraries that enable AI/LLM-driven features.


• Implement model provider integrations, tools, and agent capabilities with versioned interfaces, observability, cost/latency awareness, and sane failure modes.


• Build evaluation and regression tooling to measure, gate, and ensure trustworthy AI behavior.


• Apply security-conscious, fail-closed design for systems handling credentials, user data, and autonomous actions.


• Prototype, test, and deploy features leveraging multimodal inputs (camera, audio, documents) to deliver proactive, context-aware experiences across surfaces.


• Work in an AI-native development environment using AI coding assistants and agentic workflows, maintain automated tests and rigorous code review practices.

A Day in the Life

You will build new products and features from the ground up, own components end-to-end, make design decisions, write production code, collaborate across teams and mentor others. The team operates horizontally across multiple device types and focuses on developer experience, correctness, and safety.

Basic Qualifications
