Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. is seeking an experienced software engineer to design, build and operate scalable observability services that instrument, observe and monitor applications for AWS customers.

You will collaborate with product managers, UX designers and customers to influence roadmaps, mentor engineers, and deliver reliable software at scale across distributed systems.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years in design or architecture of scalable systems.
  • 1+ years of SWE or related experience.
  • 1+ years of OO design experience.
  • 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale distributed software.

Description

The mission of the CloudWatch Application Observability is to delight our customers and help them operate their applications by providing them a highly available, scalable and secure service that instruments, observes and monitors their applications and AI agents. At a high level, the team builds products that are curated solutions allowing customers to operate their applications. We have an exciting charter for 2026 and beyond to delight our customers and build observability solutions for their traditional and agentic workloads.

We are looking for engineers who are enthusiastic about giving customers the best experience and are passionate about solving customers’ business needs, at AWS scale.

As an experienced engineer on the team, you will work closely with the engineering staff, product managers, and UX designers across the team, as well as interact directly with customers. You will play a key role in defining the technology strategies of our product, be a technical leader and force‑multiplier in the team. You will have the unique opportunity to build, influence, and shape new AWS services.

Basic Qualifications
  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
  • 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
  • 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
