Amazon is seeking a Software Development Engineer for AWS Contract Onboarding in New York. You will contribute to an end-to-end software lifecycle, building scalable tools to capture contractual data from AWS Private Pricing Agreements.

The role emphasizes designing, implementing and operating high-volume, secure systems with real-time data, collaborating across product teams and mentoring others.

Qualifications

• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design.
• Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development lifecycle.
• Experience contributing to the architecture and design of new and current systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and build architecture to represent commercial contractual agreements.

Key job responsibilities

As a Software Development Engineer, you will contribute to all aspects of an agile software development lifecycle, including design, architecture, development, documentation, testing and operations. You will push your design and architecture limits by owning all aspects of solutions end-to-end, through full stack software development. Your team is responsible for a tool to capture contractual data from AWS private pricing agreement.

In this role, you will…

• Design and build architecture to represent commercial contractual agreements.
• Build event-driven architectures using AWS services (Lambda, Step Functions, SQS, DynamoDB).
• Own and operate the systems that you build, based on real-time contract data and demanding service-level agreements.
• Collaborate closely with UX Designers, Product Managers, and Software Development Engineers on the same team to help define the scope of the product.
• Contribute to planning, design, implementation, testing, operations, and process improvement as a member of an autonomous team.
• Write high-quality, efficient, testable code in Java, Kotlin, Python and TypeScript.
• Design Amazon scale tools to facilitate business.
• Build highly available, secure systems that deal with confidential contractual data.
• Mentor and support the growth of other developers.
• Find out what it takes to engineer systems for "Amazon Scale".

A day in the life

We have a fast-paced environment where we "Work Hard, Have Fun, Make History." On a typical day, our software development engineers dive deep to root cause a customer issue, release the latest new features, consult with the top engineers at Amazon and discuss radical new approaches to building and operating at scale.

About the team

Contract Onboarding team is building tools and services to support auto-generation and auto-ingestion of AWS Private Pricing Agreements in a electronic format. This enables AWS Billing organization to sign contracts with AWS customers faster, compute bills accurately, apply customized discounts and to enhance the overall customer experience.

Basic Qualifications

• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
• Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence
• Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
• Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
• Experience designing, building, operating, and managing large-scale distributed systems or web services
• Experience building rich data-driven web applications by consuming RESTful services and APIs
• Experience in representing formal semantics of legal documents
