Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC in Seattle, WA seeks engineers to design, build and operate secure, scalable services used by millions of customers daily. You will own features end-to-end, participate in on-call rotations, and collaborate across teams to deliver high-quality software.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of software development, 2+ years in design/architecture, and experience with large-scale distributed systems using languages like C#, C++, Java or Perl. A CS/engineering degree is required.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship software development experience.
  • 2+ years in design or architecture for systems.
  • 1+ year in software development/engineering roles.
  • 1+ year designing large-scale multi-tier/distributed apps (C#, C++, Java, or Perl).
  • 1+ year of object-oriented design experience.
  • Degree in CS, engineering, maths or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Design, Develop, Deliver and Operate secure, reliable and scalable solutions for customer features as well as internal operational improvements.
  • Maintain high standard by delivering high quality in your own work and push for a high bar in code, design and reviews.
  • Work across team boundaries to deliver on projects with ownership, trust and results.
  • Understand system and service usage patterns; participate in on-call rotation and engage with customers to resolve tickets.
  • Demonstrate customer obsession in design, implementation, testing, deployments and operations.
  • Develop communication to earn trust and drive outcomes while collaborating across teams.
  • Be engaged in meetings and continuously drive improvements in team efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Mentor junior engineers and reinforce Amazon's leadership principles daily.

WorkSpaces Applications enables SaaS application streaming and virtual desktop delivery for customers at an incredible scale. We offer a unique opportunity to solve some of the most interesting problems associated with providing secure, reliable, fast and highly scalable solutions. You'll build on top of AWS utilizing industry-leading patterns on EC2, S3, DynamoDB, Kinesis, Lambda, APIGateway, and more. We strive to deliver innovative solutions and features that enable millions of concurrent streams, snappy click-to-stream app starts, end-to-end streaming latency faster than human perception, lowest possible cost per streaming session, secure and isolated streams for optimal compute and graphics utilization, high fidelity graphics, broad server OS selection, and broad client OS support.



Key job responsibilities


  • Design, Develop, Deliver and Operate secure, reliable and scalable solutions for customer features as well as internal operational improvements.

  • Maintain high standard by delivering high quality in your own work as well as and push for a high bar in code, design and other document reviews for the team.

  • Work across team boundaries and help deliver on team projects by showing high bar of ownership, earn trust and deliver results.

  • Develop a deep understanding of the system as well as the overall service, understand core customer usage patterns and workflows. Be part of the team's oncall rotation and help in directly engaging with customers and stakeholders and drive ticket and issue resolution.

  • Demonstrate customer obsession in your work (design, implementation, testing, deployments, operations).

  • Develop your communication skills and leverage written and verbal communication to earn trust and drive consensus and required outcomes while collaborating with team mates and across team-boundaries.

  • Be closely engaged in team meetings and processes and help continuously identify and drive improvements for the team's efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Be a mentor and role model for junior engineers by exemplifying and re-inforcing the Amazon's LPs every day.

Basic Qualifications


  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience

  • 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience

  • 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language



Preferred Qualifications


  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
