A wave of innovation is bringing sweeping changes to EC2 services with new virtualization capabilities, deep platform integrations, and unimaginable scale revolutionizing traditional thinking around how we run enterprise workloads in the cloud. We are looking for a Software Development Engineer to build new capabilities to help customers run VMware‑based workloads on AWS. The AWS Commercial Applications team within Amazon EC2 defines and builds integrations with external software applications running in cloud environments and helps to modernize enterprise customer workloads.
Our team continues to expand Amazon EVS and is building new capabilities for our customers migrating and running VMware‑based workloads on AWS.
As a Software Development Engineer on the Amazon Elastic VMware Service (EVS) team, you will obsess over customers, delivering first‑class experiences by understanding their challenges and crafting solutions that exceed expectations. You’ll take ownership of ambiguous problems, from architecting distributed systems at cloud scale to resolving complex integration issues, defining problem spaces and delivering robust solutions. Your work spans the complete software development lifecycle: requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and operational support. You’ll use data to drive decisions, instrumenting systems with meaningful metrics and validating assumptions through experimentation. Finally, you’ll contribute to building a world‑class team by learning from talented engineers, mentoring teammates, and elevating the entire team’s capabilities through your technical leadership.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
