Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. is seeking a Software Development Engineer to join the ECS Control Plane.

You will collaborate with experienced Amazonians to design and deliver scalable container solutions that help customers run containerized workloads with speed and reliability. The role emphasizes building high-performance software, expanding ML/AI workloads on ECS, and contributing to a growing team focused on customer value and infrastructure abstraction for AWS users.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (patterns, reliability, scaling) experience.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

The Amazon ECS team is responsible for building and operating Containers solution to help customers run containerized microservices on AWS. We have an ambitious roadmap that seeks to redefine how our customers build their applications and run them at scale. We seek to let developers take full-advantage of the speed, agility, and immutability that containers offer so they can focus on building applications rather than managing infrastructure.

ECS is a fast growing business and we are expanding our team to help build additional features for our customers. This is a great time to join a growing team and help influence what we can do for customers who are adopting serverless containers and all the benefits ECS brings them. We are looking for a Software Development Engineer to join our development team on the ECS Control Plane. This team works closely with various teams across AWS. We have several exciting projects on our roadmap for 2026, especially with a focus on enabling more ML/AI workloads on top of ECS. Key job responsibilities

• Collaborate with experienced cross-disciplinary Amazonians to conceive, design, and bring innovative products and services to market.
• Design and build innovative technologies in a large distributed computing environment and help lead fundamental changes in the industry.
• Create solutions to run predictions on distributed systems with exposure to innovative technologies at incredible scale and speed.
• Build distributed storage, index, and query systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, low cost, and easy to manage/use.
• Design and code the right solutions starting with broadly defined problems.
• Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
