Job summary

Amazon's Alexa+ team in Seattle is seeking a seasoned Software Development Engineer to design, build, and operate Tier-1 cloud services at scale, using Rust and Java.

You will tackle complex distributed systems challenges, leverage generative AI to accelerate delivery, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver customer-facing features with a focus on reliability and efficiency for hundreds of millions of users.

Alexa+ is Amazon's next-generation AI-powered personal assistant, built on large language models to deliver natural, conversational, and context-aware experiences for hundreds of millions of customers worldwide. We are building new services and experiences for Alexa+ customers from the ground up, and we're looking for experienced, generative AI-savvy Software Development Engineers to join us.

In this role, you will design, build, and operate Tier-1 cloud services that enable real-time experiences with hundreds of millions of devices and customers. You'll partner with engineers across Alexa+ to tackle complex technical challenges, drive innovation, and deliver experiences that redefine what a personal assistant can do.

Key job responsibilities

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
