Job summary

Qualifications

• 5–6 years of backend-focused software engineering
• Strong proficiency in Rust and Python
• Experience integrating machine learning models in backend applications or production systems
• Strong understanding of database performance and large dataset queries
• Hands-on experience designing, developing, and consuming REST APIs
• Experience with Application Load Balancers (ALBs) and traffic routing/health checks
• Solid CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes
• Proficiency with Git and GitHub workflows
• Reverence for outstanding documentation and producing it where sensible

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Software Development Engineer 4 to join our New York team. This role is outstanding because you will contribute to a world-class group shaping the future of digital media and enhancing trust and transparency in the ecosystem. You will collaborate closely with designers, product managers, and engineers to deliver solutions for internal and external customers. Your responsibilities include defining and implementing reliable features, testing, and maintaining new and existing code while competing with top industry professionals.

Required experience

• 5–6 years of experience as a backend-focused software engineer
• Strong proficiency in Rust and Python, with experience developing scalable backend services
• Experience integrating and working with machine learning models in backend applications or production systems
• Strong understanding of database performance and query optimization, particularly when working with large datasets
• Hands-on experience designing, developing, and consuming REST APIs
• Experience working with Application Load Balancers (ALBs) and understanding traffic routing, health checks, and backend service integration
• Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes, including building, testing, and deploying applications across environments
• Proficiency with Git and GitHub, including collaborative development and code review workflows
• Reverence for outstanding documentation and excitement to produce it where sensible
• An appreciation for well-tested code and pragmatism about when and where to build test infrastructure
• Passion for solving problems of any scope elegantly every day
• Ability to embrace constructive criticism from colleagues, and the confidence and skill to share constructive criticism with colleagues
• Proven drive to continuously improve technical skills and knowledge

Plusses

• Experience with Drupal and/or Wordpress plugins
• Familiarity with GitOps or equivalent experience

Expected Pay Range:

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this position is $139,000 -- $257,550 annually. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process. In California, the pay range for this position is $177,900 - $257,550. In New York, the pay range for this position is $177,900 - $257,550

At Adobe, for sales roles starting salaries are expressed as total target compensation (TTC = base + commission), and short-term incentives are in the form of sales commission plans. Non-sales roles starting salaries are expressed as base salary and short-term incentives are in the form of the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).

In addition, certain roles may be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of a new hire equity award.
