Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Software Development Engineer to help personalize Prime Video recommendations at scale, delivering relevant content to millions of users. You will build services that rank content across home and browse experiences and work with researchers to productionize models.

You will design retrieval and ranking systems within tight latency budgets and contribute end-to-end from prototyping to live services in an agile environment, collaborating with Personalization and Discovery teams

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
  • 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
  • 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Build and scale the services that select and rank what customers see across Prime Video's home and browse experiences, at millions of requests per second.
  • Design retrieval and ranking systems that search the full Prime Video catalogue and personalize results per customer inside a strict latency budget.
  • Take work from an ambiguous problem statement through design, launch, A/B experiment, and measured customer impact.
  • Partner directly with applied scientists to move models from offline evaluation into production serving.
  • Improve the platform teams build on: shared retrieval paths, configuration, and experimentation tooling.
  • Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software.

We help our customers find new content and content they have engaged with, to provide the most relevant titles.

We tailor these recommendations through Personalization models that you can help shape. Along with delivering an AI-First personalization experience, you'll collaborate with a talented team of engineers and scientists to create models to run these predictions and services to provide the results at incredible scale and speed.

We tailor PV for a diverse and global audience, so customers world-wide with different tastes and backgrounds can find something to watch and enjoy on every visit. We grow our relationships with customers by leveraging our deep understanding of them to provide relevant and timely recommendations.

Basic Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
