Bring a software project you own and work on it with an AI coding assistant, while getting paid for your time. You build what you'd build anyway. We ask for your judgment on how the assistant worked with you
How it works
- Bring a software project you own: a side project, a tool you've been meaning to finish, or an open-source library you wrote
- Work on it with an AI coding assistant the way you normally would: build features, fix bugs, refactor, write docs
- At each step you see two versions of the assistant's response. Pick the one that worked with you better and write a short reason
Why you’ll like it
- Your project, your code. You keep full ownership of your project, including the code the assistant writes for you in it.
- Free tokens while you work. Your AI usage during the project is covered, so you don’t need a subscription or pay an API bill
- Paid time on work you’d do anyway.
- Remote. Work from your own computer
Who we’re looking for
- Developers with a software project they personally own, kept in a git repository
- Open-source maintainers are especially welcome
- Comfortable working in the terminal and with git
- A computer running macOS, Linux, or Windows with WSL2
- Clear, honest writing: you’ll explain your choices in a few sentences
Good to know before you apply
- Eligible projects: a software project that you personally and solely own. Open-source projects need an approved license. If your project has other maintainers, mention it; we’re confirming how those are handled
- Not eligible: work for an employer, client or university; anything under NDA; code owned by a company or startup; AI model training or evaluation; ML infrastructure; security exploit tooling; projects that process other people’s personal data
- Before you start, you sign short contributor terms and we approve your project
- What you share: transcripts of your project sessions are used to improve AI models, and once submitted they can’t be withdrawn. This covers the sessions only, not the rest of your project. Your ratings and written feedback become part of the project’s deliverables
- In sessions: no passwords, API keys or other people’s personal data. You write your ratings yourself, without AI help
