Job summary

NISC is seeking a back-end focused software engineer to join the iVUE Telecom Bill Calculations team. You will help develop and support our broadband billing solution, transforming raw data into accurate billing records and applying taxes within cycles.

You will collaborate across teams to design new features and resolve issues, while adhering to standard development practices. Ideal candidates have 1+ years in software development, experience with SQL/Progress/C, Python, Linux, and AWS;

Qualifications

• 1+ years of software development experience.
• Proficient with SQL, Progress, C or other OO languages.
• Experience with Python and Progress OE12.
• Experience with Linux OS and AWS services (preferred).
• Web trends, architectures, and deployment patterns knowledge.
• Git workflows including branching/merging; Jira/Confluence/Bitbucket/Bamboo usage.
• Ability to leverage AI tools to boost productivity.

Responsibilities

• Develop and support billing software for broadband members.
• Process raw files (CSV, BAF) into billing records.
• Add tax and billing-related logic during cycles.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement features.
• Research, analyze, and resolve moderately complex issues and bugs.
• Write unit and integration tests as needed.
• Follow established development methodologies; prototype intelligent features.

Position Overview:

This position will be on our iVUE Telecom Bill Calculations Software Development team. This is NISC's solution that supports our billing process for data centers solutions for our Telecom or Broadband Member. The core technologies used on this team are Python, Progress, Linux, Shell Scripting, and C.

Essential Duties:

• Develop and support billing software for broadband communication members.
• Work with raw files (CSV, BAF, etc.) and convert them into billing records.
• Build out functionality in software to apply taxes and other billing related items during billing cycles.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to research, design, and implement new features.
• Research, analyze, and resolve moderately complex customer issues and bugs.
• Unit test and integration test code as needed.
• Follow all established software development methodologies and procedures.
• Explore and prototype intelligent agent-based features that enhance user experience or automate workflows
• Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Generally, requires 1+ years' experience in software development.
• Proficient with SQL, Progress, C or other Object-Oriented languages.
• Experience with Python or other scripting languages.
• Experience with Progress OE12 or greater.
• Experience with Linux OS.
• Experience with AWS cloud services (e.g., S3, Lambda, EC2, EMR, SQS, SNS, CloudWatch), preferred.
• Proficient with developing responsive content .
• Working knowledge of web trends, architecture and deployment patterns.
• Experience with Git including branching/merging workflows
• Experience with JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo.
• Leverage generative AI tools and technologies to enhance productivity, creativity, and problem-solving within the scope of the role.

• Hybrid Schedule:Minimum of working 3daysper week out of an office location and ability to work up toall 5days a week from an office location.
• Required Days from an Office Location: Tuesday and Wednesday – the thirdrequiredday will be up to the candidate and their supervisor to choose.

Desired Education:
