Job summary

NISC is seeking software developers to join our Meter Data Management Software Development team, focusing on full-stack and heavier backend development. You will work on data storage and analytics that support AMI data processing, billing support, and customer service enhancements.

The role emphasizes collaboration across Product, Data, UX, and Engineering, with hybrid work options and a strong SDLC discipline. You will contribute to scalable solutions and automation in a team-driven environment.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of software development experience (implied seniority).
  • Experience with a full-stack, cloud-based environment.
  • Proficiency with Javascript, Angular, Typescript or other web development languages.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages such as Java or Scala.
  • Experience with AWS cloud services (e.g., S3, Lambda, EC2, EMR, SQS, SNS, CloudWatch).
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., Oracle, Postgres, Cassandra, DynamoDB).
  • Understanding of ETL/ELT processes, metadata, dependency, and workload management.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and engineering tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, and Bamboo.

  • Analyze and resolve complex technical issues across application and data platforms.

This position would be on ourMeter Data ManagementSoftwareDevelopment team, which is NISC's solutionfor data storage and analytics that enhances customer service and provides engineering analysis using Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) data. This product helps utility staff to analyze,troubleshootandvalidatedata for billing and other purposes.


Essential Duties:


  • Design, develop, test, andmaintainfull‑stackapplications and scalable data engineering solutions

  • Identify and implement opportunities for automation, scalability, and system optimization

  • Provide clear progress updates and communicate risks, dependencies, and technical considerations

  • Explore and prototype intelligent agent-based features that enhance user experience or automate workflows

  • Other duties as assigned


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:


  • Generally,requires1+ years’ experience in software development

  • Experience in a full‑stack,cloud‑basedenvironment

  • Proficiency with Javascript, Angular, Typescript or other web development languages

  • Proficiency in object‑orientedprogramming languages such as Java or Scala

  • Experience with AWS cloud services (e.g., S3, Lambda, EC2, EMR, SQS, SNS, CloudWatch)

  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., Oracle, Postgres, Cassandra, DynamoDB)

  • Understanding of ETL/ELT processes, metadata, dependency, and workload management

  • Working knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes)

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and engineering tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, and Bamboo

  • Nice‑to‑have:scripting languageslike Python

  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, androot‑causeanalysis skills

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to remain composed and think analytically in high‑pressuresituations

Work Schedule:


  • Hybrid from the following office location:

    • Atlanta, GA

    • Cedar Rapids, IA

    • Lake Saint Louis, MO

  • Hybrid Schedule: Minimum of working 3day s per week out of an office location and ability to work up all 5 days a week from an office location.

  • Required Days from an Office Location: Tuesday and Wednesday – the third required day will be up to the candidate and their supervisor to choose.
