Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree and one year of experience in systems analysis, application design, or software development.
Substitution for Bachelor's degree: Relevant IT Associate's Degree.
OR
An Associate's degree and two years of related IT experience may substitute for the bachelor's degree requirement.
Substitution of Experience for Education: Related IT experience may substitute for the required bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of four years.

Under general supervision, this classification develops and maintains business application software under general supervision. Performs coding, testing, analysis, and documentation of basic systems as part of an IT project team or independently. The junior level role assists the development, testing, and maintenance of software applications. Also creates and modifying programs, as well as resolves user-reported issues. This class differs from Software Developer-Adv in that an incumbent of the latter functions at the advanced working level and performs programming duties of greater scope and complexity.
