Job summary

Nakupuna Consulting seeks a Software Developer IV to join the Portfolio Operations team, ensuring payroll data accuracy and integrity through rigorous testing and validation. The role supports a large, multi‑year IPPS‑Army program, with on‑site Arlington work two days and a hybrid option.

You will design test plans, validate data, and perform regression testing while mentoring junior teammates. A Secret clearance and DoD experience are preferred for this position.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Overview

Nakupuna Consulting is seeking a Software Developer IV to join the Portfolio Operations team, supporting the execution of a large, multi-year contract to the Integrated Personnel and Pay System - Army (IPPS-A) Army Military Payroll (AMP). The Developer’s key responsibility will be ensuring the accuracy and integrity of payroll data through rigorous testing and validation processes, ensuring compliance with customer and Nakupuna company policies and legal regulations.

Responsibilities

• Create or update data conversion programs
• Run payrolls for comparison/reconciliation testing
• Create comprehensive test plans
• Data Analytics and Validation – verify the accuracy of employee data, pay rates, and deductions. Reconcile pay results between systems
• Regression Testing – ensure that new code or changes do not introduce errors into existing payroll functionality
• Problem Solving – identify, analyze, and resolve issues or discrepancies in payroll data or processes; categorize variances
• Conduct peer reviews on other teammates’ configuration and code to ensure accuracy and alignment to overall architecture and design; document software configurations in prescribed documentation tool(s)
• Conduct unit testing in line with defined quality engineering processes
• Conduct software development activities in support of application enhancements and system defects
• Documentation – maintain thorough documentation of test plans, results, and resolutions
• Mentor junior team members

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in SQL

• Experience with additional programming languages (Python, Java) is preferred

• Strong understanding of data validation techniques
• Project Management experience is a plus

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in a Computer Software or Engineering major or 2 or more years of experience within the federal government, DoD, Army, or IC preferred. Minimum 2 years of experience working in a computer software‑related field required.

PeopleSoft PeopleTools and SQL knowledge required. Strong communication skills required. Certifications in PeopleSoft PeopleTools and SAFe for Teams preferred.

This position requires a current Secret clearance. Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Work location will be in Arlington 2 days on‑site with a hybrid option. Occasional travel may be required.

The projected compensation range for this position is $140,000.00 to $165,000.00 (annualized USD). The salary range displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Nakupuna Companies total compensation package for employees.
