Job summary

BECU is seeking a Full Stack Software Developer to modernize digital platforms, build scalable APIs, and deliver data-driven applications for members. The role involves collaborating with engineers, product owners, and leaders to drive AI-enabled engineering practices and improve digital experiences for members.

The position supports remote work with in-person HQ engagements for WA-based candidates; compensation reflects a strong market range with incentives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience designing software and writing production code in a team environment.
  • Experience delivering highly scalable solutions across multiple programming languages and technical environments.
  • Strong React development experience.
  • Experience building and supporting APIs in Java and/or .NET environments.
  • Strong database experience, including SQL and working with data-driven applications.
  • Experience with cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, GCP).
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps Services, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, TeamCity).
  • Experience with TDD and unit testing practices.
  • Experience using Git and code reviews.

Responsibilities

PAY RANGE The Target Pay Range for this position is $117,200.00-$143,200.00 annually. The full Pay Range is $91,000.00 - $169,400.00 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

IMPACT YOU'LL MAKE: As a Full Stack Software Developer, you'll help create and enhance the digital experiences that connect members with BECU every day. You’ll play a key role in modernizing our digital platforms by developing scalable applications, building APIs and integrations, and supporting personalized member experiences. Working alongside engineers, product owners, and technical leaders, you’ll help deliver innovative solutions that drive business value and improve member engagement. You’ll also have the opportunity to influence how AI-powered development practices are adopted across the engineering organization. Your work will directly contribute to building secure, reliable, and impactful digital experiences for our members.

To join our dynamic team, we require candidates to be residents of WA, OR, ID, AZ, TX, GA, SC, NC, CA or VA. If you're located in Washington state and within a reasonable driving distance from Tukwila, we are requesting that you come into our HQ on Tuesdays & Wednesdays. For those candidates that live outside the commute distance of TFC and in any of our approved remote work locations, this role will be remote. Remote or onsite, we are committed to ensuring you are fully engaged and included in our collaborative environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Develop Scalable Solutions: Design, build, test, and deploy high-quality software solutions that support member-facing and internal business applications.
  • Support Digital Transformation: Contribute to website modernization initiatives, personalization capabilities, and digital experience enhancements that improve how members interact with BECU.
  • Build APIs and Integrations: Design, develop, and maintain APIs and integrations that power critical business capabilities and digital services.
  • Create Data-Driven Applications: Develop and maintain database components, data models, scripts, and migrations that support scalable and reliable applications.
  • Solve Complex Problems: Analyze requirements, evaluate technical options, and recommend solutions that balance business needs, performance, and maintainability.
  • Deliver High-Quality Code: Participate in coding, testing, debugging, documentation, and code reviews while continuously improving software quality and performance.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with developers, architects, product owners, and technical leaders to deliver solutions in an Agile development environment.
  • Leverage Modern Engineering Practices: Explore and apply emerging technologies, including AI-assisted development tools, to improve productivity, code quality, and development efficiency.
  • Support CI/CD and Production Releases: Build and maintain deployment pipelines, support production deployments, and help troubleshoot issues when needed.
  • Improve and Automate Processes: Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, reduce manual effort, and increase engineering efficiency through automation.
  • Contribute to Technical Direction: Share ideas, recommend improvements, and help shape the team's technology roadmap and engineering best practices.
  • Support Team Success: Contribute wherever needed to help the team achieve its goals and deliver exceptional outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent work experience. Experience delivering highly scalable solutions across multiple programming languages and technical environments. Strong REACT development experience. Experience building and supporting APIs in Java and/or .NET environments. Strong database experience, including SQL and working with data-driven applications. Experience with cloud technologies, .NET, C#, PowerShell, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, and SQL. Experience building cloud-native applications in one or more major cloud platforms such as Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Amazon Web Services (AWS). Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools such as Azure DevOps Services, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or TeamCity.
