Job summary

CAC I is seeking a Software Developer to join an award-winning, mission-driven team in North Charleston. You will contribute to the DHRES portfolio, delivering robust, secure, and well-documented software solutions for defense-related projects.

You will work onsite 2–3 days per week, collaborate with engineers, SMEs, and project managers, and drive full-stack development across modern frameworks while adhering to DoD security requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Network Security, Information Systems or Computer Science.
• 5+ years’ experience as a software developer.
• 5+ years of full stack development including some architecture.

Responsibilities

• Write robust, secure, readable, tested code with good conventions.
• Refactor legacy code while preserving functionality.
• Stay up-to-date on best practices in frameworks and languages.
• Design, code, test, debug and document programs.
• Develop detailed specifications, code and related customer information.
• Create/modify complex programs to meet user requirements and ensure quality.
• Collaborate with PM and departments to resolve program intent and inputs.
• Plan, artifact creation, full stack development, testing and demonstrations.
• Analyze problems and craft innovative scheduling/technology solutions.

The Software Developer will be working at CACI’s office in North Charleston. The project is within the Defense Health Readiness Engineering Support (DHRES) portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Write code that is robust, secure, readable, tested, follows conventions, and is no more complex than necessary.


• Refactor legacy code to improve code quality while maintaining functionality.


• Stay up-to-date on recommended best practices in relevant frameworks and languages.


• Reason objectively with other engineers about the technical merit of individual solutions and prepare detailed specifications for programs.


• Responsible for program design, coding, testing, debugging and documentation.


• Formulate and develop detailed specifications, code, documentation, and related customer information required to complete program development maintenance activities.


• Create and/or modify complex programs to meet user requirements to include testing program and system changes ensuring product quality and timeliness.


• Confer with project manager and representatives of departments affected by program to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, extent of automatic programming and coding use and modification, and inclusion of internal checks and controls.


• Design and develop client applications; meet with clients/functional SMEs to determine program requirements.


• Test and correct program errors by altering program steps and sequence.


• Analyze, review, and rewrite programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements.


• Actively participate in planning activities, artifact creation, full stack development, testing, and demonstrations.


• Analyze project-related problems and create innovative solutions involving, scheduling, technology, methodology, tools, and solution components.


• Develop application changes, test, and document changes.


• Assist with other program efforts (such as test automation, configuration management, etc.)

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Physics, Network Security, Information Systems or Computer Science


• 5+ years’ experience as a software developer


• 5+ years of full stack development to include some architecture


• Proven experience as a Developer, with knowledge of a combination of the following technologies:
  
  
  
  • o Front-end: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Angular, or Vue.js
  
  
  • o Back-end: Java, SQL Node.js, Express, Python, Ruby on Rails, or similar
  
  
  • o Databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or similar
  
  
  • o Understanding of RESTful API design and development
  
  
  • o Proficiency in version control systems (e.g., Git)
  
  
  
  


• Ability to follow established development processes and procedures to include Sprint planning and code reviews


• Experience with Continuous Delivery pipelines


• Knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle


• Ability to debug / trace code and resolve issues quickly


• Familiarity and experience with DevOps / SecDevOps


• Willing to work onsite 2-3 days a week


• Ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret clearance

Desired:

• Experience with Atlassian tools - Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo


• Experience with jOOQ, PostgreSQL, Git, Java


• Experience working with Java app servers


• Experience with Agile software development


• Strong verbal/written communication skills and ability to work in a team environment and interface with customers


• Ability to work well in a team environment

The proposed salary range for this position is:
$78,000 - $163,800
