Overview

Are you interested in working with a leading education technology player, the global leader in the assessment and certification of professional skills industry with presence in more than 200 countries worldwide? PeopleCert is looking for a talented Software Developer to join our Software Development Team and design and develop applications that support and manage our certification exams, conducted 24/7 worldwide. Our applications are web-based, built on cloud (Azure) web services and we are using various technologies, including JavaScript, Redis, OAuth, .NET, SQL Server, as well as iOS and Android native app development and video streaming.

As a Software Developer your tasks will include the following:

Responsibilities
  • Software Development and Maintenance: Actively participate in the execution of the full software development lifecycle for company products. Write well-designed, testable, and efficient code using advanced tools and ensure comprehensive documentation in line with PeopleCert standards.
  • Project Collaboration: Participate in project planning and design. Monitor ongoing project progress, and report daily on the status of tasks to both management and project management teams via Wrike.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct unit testing and preliminary debugging to guarantee functionality. Collaborate closely with the Software Quality Assurance team to report findings and improve software quality.
  • Technological Innovation: Research innovative technologies, tools, and solutions, spreading the word with the team to foster a culture of innovation.
  • Team Collaboration and Communication: Work collaboratively in a team setting, liaising effectively with other team members to achieve optimal results.
  • Policy Adherence: Follow and implement all procedures, policies, and work instructions according to the PeopleCert Integrated Management System.
  • Cultural Alignment: Uphold the company’s core values of "Quality, Passion, Integrity, Innovation" in all professional endeavors.
What we look for
  • Educational Background: University Degree in Informatics Technology or a related field. A Postgraduate Degree is preferred.
  • Professional Experience: Experience in software development (2+ years), with proven experience in a (project) leadership role.
  • Technical Proficiency: Expertise in Object-Oriented Programming, with advanced skills in ASP.NET, C#, and JavaScript. Deep understanding of frameworks and design patterns.
  • Exposure in Agile Environments: Extensive experience in leading Agile projects, preferably SCRUM, demonstrating strong project management skills.
  • Analytical skills: Considerate thinking with the aim to drive growth and business success, while assessing and solving complex problems.
  • Language Skills: Fluent in English, with C2 level certification highly regarded (e.g., LanguageCert C2 LTE, C2 IESOL).
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Personal Attributes: Highly organized, self-driven, adaptable, and capable of juggling multiple priorities in a dynamic, high-pressure environment.

Working on Home Office (HO) Secure English Language Tests (SELTs)

Any person who is engaged by PeopleCert to work on the SELT service must undergo a Background Check (the results of which must be acceptable to PeopleCert and the HO) prior to commencing their SELT duties. All SELT personnel will be required to complete a declaration (provided by PeopleCert) where the existence of any criminal record and/or bankruptcy must be declared.

If working on the SELT service in the UK, background checks will include:

  • A basic or enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check
  • Right to Work in the UK check (including nationality, identity and place of residence)
  • HO security check (Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) or Counter Terrorist Check (CTC))
  • Financial background check
  • Employment reference check
  • If working on the SELT service anywhere in the world (outside of the UK) personnel will undergo background checks that are equivalent to those stated for the UK

In addition, if personnel are required to speak to SELT candidates they must be appropriately skilled in English language and, where SELT services are provided anywhere in the world (outside of the UK), the official language of the relevant country.
