Amentum is seeking a Software Engineer to support Naval projects in Dahlgren, VA. This position will design, develop, integrate, and test software for DoW weapons and sensor systems as part of a systems and software engineering team delivering mission-critical applications.

You will work with C and C++, participate in CI, using Git and Jira, and contribute across the full development lifecycle while maintaining security clearances.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
• Experience with C/C++ and software development.
• Experience with development tools and configuration management processes.
• Active Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
• Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.

Job Summary

Amentum is seeking a Software Engineer to support Naval projects in Dahlgren, VA. Requirements

• 0–10 years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or another applicable technical field, or equivalent experience in lieu of the education requirement.
• Experience with or knowledge of C/C++ software development.
• Experience with software development tools and configuration management processes.
• Strong analytical, technical, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an engineering team.
• Must have an active secret security clearance. Note: U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior software development or systems engineering experience supporting Surface Combat Systems or DoD Weapons Systems.
• Experience with embedded systems and real‑time operating systems.
• Experience with Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) algorithms.
• Knowledge or experience with hypersonic trajectories.
• Systems engineering experience supporting the development and integration of software systems on surface ships and subsurface boats.
• Experience with the integration, testing, and evaluation of software using hardware simulators.

Compensation

Compensation Details: $110000. The compensation range or hourly rate listed for this position is provided as a good‑faith estimate of what the company intends to offer for this role at the time this posting was issued. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
