Job description

Software Dev Engineer II, UBX Privacy Tech

Job ID: 2911244 | Amazon.com Services LLC

Interested in working with the latest technology in the cloud computing space?

The Amazon Foundational People Data Services (FPDS) team is building solutions to enable employees and managers to self-serve changes across all human resource processes.

Join us in building an innovative technology using Amazon Web Services to meet the complex and unique demands of managing nearly 2,000,000 employees globally. We dive deep to insist on the highest standards in architecture, coding, testing, deploying and maintaining every aspect of our offerings.

Mentorship & Career Growth: Our team is dedicated to supporting new members. We have a broad mix of experience levels and tenures, and we’re building an environment that celebrates knowledge sharing and mentorship.

Work/Life Balance: Our team maintains an inclusive culture and we put a high value on work-life balance. Striking a healthy balance between your personal and professional life is crucial to your happiness and success.

We are looking for scale-focused and customer-obsessed full-stack developers with strong computer science fundamentals, including web application development, data structures, object-oriented design, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis. If you’re thrilled by the idea of ownership, passionate about creating new applications and features from scratch and comfortable with the pace of a company shipping software in cycles measured in weeks not years, we would love to connect with you.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Take ownership of software design, documentation, development, engineering approach, delivery, and support of systems built natively in AWS.
  2. Collaborate with leaders, work backwards from customers, identify problems, propose innovative solutions, and raise standards.
  3. Have a positive impact on our customers by delivering high-quality software solutions.
  4. Communicate effectively with stakeholders on planning and communication of project deliverables.
  5. Participate in an on-call rotation within your team to troubleshoot and resolve defects, with ongoing communication with stakeholders and customers.
  6. Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve software development practices.

A day in the life
As a full stack engineer, you will work closely with UX designers, product managers, accessibility teams, stakeholders, and software developers in partner teams to develop services and web applications. Each day you come into work, you get to learn from some of the smartest people in the world, solve hard and interesting problems, and help move the needle at Amazon scale. You will take direct action to improve customer experience by fixing bugs and performance issues, improving diagnostics and metrics, investigating customer-reported bugs, and listening to user feedback. Working with your teammates, you will discover solutions that delight customers and you will deliver software using Agile practices, which makes a positive impact in the everyday life of Amazonians.

About the team
Our team’s mission is to build innovative automation solutions to reduce manual effort, reduce errors and improve user experience of existing processes for Amazonians. We are working towards the next wave of innovation in building tools and products which will ensure compliance with privacy regulations while providing a simple, efficient, accessible and user-friendly experience. Our engineers use technology to solve complex problems across all Amazon ecosystems, collaborating with team members in and across teams. They have the responsibility to improve and build new tools, services, and applications. Taking a business problem from conception and designing, developing and deploying software solutions while holding a high bar for code quality and their craft, is at the heart of how they make impact. They have a responsibility to deliver on schedule using current software engineering best practices.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  3. 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  4. Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
  5. Experience with full-stack Web software development using server side frameworks and technologies such as: Node.js, PHP, SQL, as well as front-end frameworks and technologies such as React and TypeScript, Bootstrap, JQuery, HTML5, CSS
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  2. Experience in AWS, S3, SQS, large-scale web services, and serverless applications (API Gateway, Lambda functions, Route53, Cloudfront)
