Job summary

Northrop Grumman seeks a Software Configuration Management Analyst/Principal Analyst for an on-site role in Palmdale, CA. Travel up to 10% may be required; relocation assistance may be available. No remote work.

The role involves developing and maintaining CM tools, tracking configuration metadata, and leading build procedures and release records across both internal and COTS software products. Active TS clearance is required.

Qualifications

  • Active US Government Top Secret clearance or in Continuous Evaluation
  • Experience reviewing contract documents for documentation delivery per project phase
  • Experience analyzing design changes for impact on product and system baseline
  • Experience coordinating modification records to maintain baseline control
  • Experience working in an Integrated Product Team and being a self-starter
  • SAP/clearance eligibility is beneficial
  • Knowledge of tool development and agile environments is preferred

  • Design and implement build procedures to support product development and use
  • Generate and maintain program software development, release, and change records
  • Develop software configuration standards for company-wide use
  • Train developers in configuration management tools and software quality standards
  • Contribute to development of new principles and concepts

Role Overview

Software Configuration Management Analyst / Principal Software Configuration Management Analyst – Palmdale, CA. Full‑time, on‑site. Travel up to 10% of the time may be required. Relocation assistance may be available. No remote/hybrid/telework.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain software configuration management tools to support configuration identification, control, reporting, and delivery of both internally developed and externally purchased commercial‑off‑the‑shelf (COTS) software products.
  • Track and monitor changes to a software system’s configuration metadata, including handling dependencies, version control, and variability management.
  • Perform configuration management and release engineering tasks to ensure new software product operating parameters are documented, comply with standard hardware configurations, and are logistically sustainable.
  • Design, develop, automate, and maintain productivity tools using programming, database or scripting languages to improve software modeling and development.
  • Design and implement build procedures that support software product development and use.
  • Generate and maintain program software development, release, and change records.
  • Develop software configuration standards for company‑wide use.
  • Train software developers in the use of configuration management tools and the implementation of software quality standards.
  • Contribute to the development of new principles and concepts.
Qualifications
  • Must have an active US Government Top Secret clearance, with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled in Continuous Evaluation.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.
  • Experience in reviewing contract documents to determine documentation delivery required for each phase of a project.
  • Experience analyzing proposed changes of product design to determine effect on overall product and system baseline.
  • Experience coordinating modification records to maintain baseline control.
  • Experience working in an Integrated Product Team construct and being a self‑starter.
  • Configuration Analyst qualification: Master’s degree and 0 years of experience; Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related configuration and/or data management (CDM) experience; Associate’s degree and 4 years of related CDM experience; or 6 years of related CDM experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Principal Configuration Analyst qualification: PhD and 1 year of CDM experience; Master’s degree and 3 years of CDM experience; Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of related CDM experience; Associate’s degree and 7 years of related CDM experience; or 9 years of related CDM experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Preferred: Current applicable Special Access Program (SAP) clearance; experience with Jira and Confluence; knowledge and fluency in tool development; experience working in an agile environment.
Compensation and Benefits

Primary Level Salary Range: $75,800.00 – $113,800.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $94,200.00 – $141,200.00

Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonus, and long‑term incentives. Benefits include health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company‑paid holidays, and paid time off for vacation and personal business.
