Job Summary

The Software Architect is responsible for designing and evolving software solutions that meet business, product and technical requirements. This role translates functional and non-functional requirements into secure, scalable, resilient and maintainable software architectures using established architectural principles, standards and patterns. The Software Architect works with Product, Engineering, Security and other stakeholders to make and document technical design decisions, assess solution options and guide engineering teams during implementation. The role remains technically hands‑on through prototypes, proof-of-concepts and reference implementations while supporting strong software architecture and engineering practices.

This position is a remote position with Home Office setup as determined by SHI management.

Role Description

  • Make and document architectural decisions, assumptions and trade-offs using methods such as Architecture Decision Records.
  • Design cloud-focused solutions using platforms such as Microsoft Azure and AWS.
  • Ensure solution designs appropriately address security, scalability, reliability, resilience, performance, observability, maintainability and cost.
  • Evaluate technologies, frameworks and architectural approaches and provide evidence-based recommendations.
  • Lead solution-level architecture and design reviews, engaging Senior Software Architects on complex, strategic or cross-product decisions.
  • Identify architectural risks, dependencies and technical debt within assigned solutions and recommend appropriate remediation.
