Job summary

Compunnel, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Software Architect in Roseland, NJ to design, build, and document scalable solutions. You will split time between architecture and coding, focusing on domain modeling, API schemas, GraphQL, MERN, and DSQL within an agile team.

You will contribute to production code and automation, while ensuring secure, high-performance designs and clear documentation across the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Four-year college degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and automated quality gates.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong project and time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced development environments.
• Experience with ADLC.
• Proficiency translating complex solutions into UML diagrams using Enterprise Architect, Mural, or similar tools.
• Experience with at least one programming language such as Node.js or Java.
• Experience with tools such as Jenkins and Docker.
• Experience designing APIs used to integrate isolated systems with independent domains.
• Experience as an API or backend developer.
• Experience with MERN stack, DSQL, and GraphQL.

Job Summary

The Software Architect will investigate, design, and implement technical solutions while working closely with lean and agile teams responsible for implementing them. The role will contribute to domain modeling, API schemas and documentation, the ADLC and software development processes, and hands‑on development of production code, automation, and supporting tools using the MERN stack, DSQL, and GraphQL. This is a hands‑on role with an approximately 50/50 split between architecture and coding.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead discussions with domain experts to gather the information required to develop accurate domain models
• Quickly understand new domains and translate business and technical requirements into scalable, cacheable, performant, and secure solution designs
• Contribute hands‑on to the codebase, including production code, automation, and supporting tools
