Job summary

Centurion is seeking a Software Application Developer IV to join our IT team in Sterling, VA. You will design, develop, and maintain secure web applications powering clinical workflows and interoperability with EHR systems.

The role requires 10+ years of full-stack experience with Java and .NET, plus hands-on DevOps and Azure cloud expertise to optimize delivery pipelines and modernize platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of experience in full-stack web development with Java and .NET.
• Strong hands-on experience with Spring Boot, ASP.NET MVC, Web API, and Azure cloud.

Responsibilities

• Design and build full-stack web applications using Java and .NET MVC frameworks.
• Integrate web applications with healthcare APIs and services (FHIR, HL7, EHR).
• Collaborate with product managers, UI/UX designers, QA engineers, and analysts.
• Participate in architecture discussions focused on interoperability and system integrations.
• Ensure performance, security, and data integrity in backend processes.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub, and Azure DevOps; automate deployment in Azure.
• Modernize legacy systems while contributing to microservices-based new apps.
• Write clean, well-documented code; perform code reviews and mentor juniors.
• Develop and maintain unit, integration, and automated tests; participate in Agile ceremonies.
• Monitor health, performance, and logs; troubleshoot production issues quickly.

Centurion is proud to be a leading provider of comprehensive healthcare services to correctional facilities, state hospitals, and community mental health centers nationwide.We are currently seeking a full-time Software Application Developer IV to join our IT team in Sterling, VA.The Software Application Developer IV is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining secure, scalable web applications that support clinical workflows, patient engagement, and interoperability with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. This role will work across a hybrid technology stack and play a key role in modernizing our platform through cloud-based deployment strategies and continuous optimization of code, infrastructure, and delivery pipelines.The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java and .NET development, along with hands-on DevOps experience, to help build scalable, secure, and innovative healthcare technology solutions. This position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality applications that enhance operational efficiency, improve user experience, and support the organization's healthcare technology initiatives.• Design and build full-stack web applications using Java and .NET MVC frameworks.• Integrate web applications with healthcare APIs and services (e.g., FHIR, HL7, EHR systems).• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, UI/UX designers, QA engineers, Business Analysts and Clinical informatics experts.• Participate in architecture and design sessions, particularly around interoperability and system integrations.• Ensure performance, security and data integrity in back-end processes.• Collaborate on CI/CD pipeline creation and maintenance using tools like Jenkins, GitHub, Azure DevOps, etc.• Automate infrastructure and application deployment in cloud environment (Azure).• Contribute to cross-platform integrations between .NET and Java services.• Maintain and modernize legacy systems while contributing to new applications in microservices environment• Write clean, reusable, and well-documented code following industry best practices.• Maintain and refactor existing components built with Java and .Net environment.• Conduct code reviews, mentor junior developers, and help define engineering standards.• Develop and maintain unit, integration, and automated tests.• Participate in agile ceremonies (sprint planning, code reviews, retrospectives).• Monitor system health, application performance, and logs• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues quickly, maintaining high system availability• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).• 10+ years of experience in full-stack web development.• Strong hands-on experience with Java, .NET, Core / ASP.NET MVC / Web API, and development platforms.• Solid understanding of application development using Spring boot, .Net and various DevOps tools on cloud infrastructure, especially Azure cloud.• Experience in front end application development, preferably using Angular.• Experience with healthcare data standards like HL7, HIPAA Compliance, and EHR integrations.• Familiarity with HIPAA, PHI data handling, and healthcare compliance standards.• Proficient in SQL and relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL).• Experience with SVN, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile methodologies.• Experience in data visualization tools such as PowerBI and Pentaho is preferred.• Strong debugging, performance tuning, and problem-solving skills.
