Job summary

Loudoun County Public Schools is seeking a high school softball coach for Park View with a season running February through May. The role involves directing varsity workouts, supervising assistants, and coordinating with the athletic director on scheduling and eligibility.

Responsibilities include managing training, maintaining academic standards for athletes, and representing the program at contests and postseason events.

Qualifications

• Coaching experience at the high school or college level.
• Completion of CPR and First Aid training or enrollment in a current CPR/First Aid course.
• Prefer experience as a teacher or classified employee in Loudoun County Public Schools.
• Prefer a Virginia teaching license candidate or a full‑time classified employee with Loudoun County Public Schools.

Responsibilities

• Assist the athletic director and principal in hiring and/or retaining assistant coaches.
• Direct, supervise, and evaluate the performance of assistant coaches for the sport.
• Work cooperatively with the athletic director to ensure proper insurance coverage for all athletes.
• Work cooperatively with other head athletic coaches to maintain a well‑balanced athletic program.
• Foster appreciation of athletics, sportsmanship, self‑respect, team, school, and community pride among players and spectators.
• Direct the training, conditioning, and performance of the varsity team and supervise assistant coaches.
• Act as a positive influence on staff and player behavior.
• Be present and personally direct the varsity team at all contests and attend as many junior‑year and freshman games as possible; supervise athletes at invitational or postseason competitions.
• Advise the athletic director on schedule preparation for the sport.
• Advise the athletic director on officiating selection and performance evaluations.
• Recommend equipment type, quantity, and supplies; oversee inventory and care of equipment.
• Inform the athletic director of facility condition and maintenance needs.
• Ensure player eligibility lists are accurate and current under VHSL rules.
• Recommend removal of athletes who fail to meet training or eligibility regulations.
• Confirm all athletes have completed and passed medical examinations before the regular practice season.
• Encourage try‑outs, organize equipment managers, scorekeepers, statisticians, ball runners, and other support roles.
• Maintain records, statistics, news items, and photographs for the athletic teams.
• Recommend students qualifying for varsity letters or junior‑year/freshman certificates.
• Recommend prospective coaches upon request.
• Observe sub‑variety practices and games.
• Perform other duties as requested by the principal or athletic director.
