U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Social Worker (Program Coordinator) at the GS-0185-12 level to oversee a comprehensive social work program within the Veterans Health Administration.
The role requires a master's degree in social work, state licensure, and demonstrated experience in program coordination, policy development, and multidisciplinary supervision. Community outreach and collaboration are key components of the position.
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria).
One year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment, demonstrating progressively more professional competency. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience.
Individuals assigned as social worker program coordinator must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure.

Operates a computer and other standard office equipment, requiring repetitive motion and the ability to remain stationary for extended periods. Travels independently throughout the assigned catchment area to conduct community outreach, attend partnership meetings, and represent the suicide prevention program. This position requires a valid driver's license and the ability to operate a motor vehicle to reach outreach sites, which may include locations not accessible by public transportation. Occasionally lift, carry, and transport outreach materials, displays, and event supplies weighing up to 40 pounds. Set up and break down event materials, including booths, signage, and informational displays, which may require bending, reaching, standing, and stooping.
