Job summary

Brightway Living & Learning in Nesconset, NY is seeking a Social Worker (BSW) for our Adult Day program. This full-time, on-site role offers hourly pay between $21.49 and $25.79 and the chance to directly impact lives through self-advocacy and social skills training.

You'll manage intake, coordinate workshops, liaise with community resources, maintain confidential records, and contribute to a supportive team focused on the well-being and development of participants.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working with Developmentally Disabled population.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate Self-Advocacy program for Adult Day sites, coordinating workshops and events.
  • Provide social skills training in group settings to promote functioning.
  • Assist with intake of new participants and related paperwork.
  • Liaise with internal and external resources and programs.
  • Maintain confidential professional documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range:

$21.49-$25.79/hr

What You'll Do
  • Facilitate Self-Advocacy program for all Adult Day program sites, including the coordination of relevant workshops, yearly projects, fundraising opportunities, and other Self-Advocacy events.
  • Assist in providing social skills training in a group setting to promote mental, emotional, physical, and social functioning.
  • Assist with intake of new participants and associated paperwork.
  • Act as liaison with internal and outside resources, (i.e. other Brightway programs, Brightway Transportation, Self-Advocacy of NYS, other agencies, etc.)
  • Maintain documentation in a professional, efficient, accountable, and confidential manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What You Need For The Role
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work
  • Must possess strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be comfortable working with the Developmentally Disabled population.
What You Must Be Able To Do
  • Must be able to lift/move/carry 15 lbs.
  • Must be able to kneel, twist and bend.
  • Must be able to perform all physical SCIP techniques.
