This position provides social work and case management services that help inmates build stability and prepare for future success. The role focuses on supporting inmates through counseling, reentry planning, and communication with families and agencies. As a Social Worker 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Program Development: Create and coordinate social service programs that support inmate well-being and personal growth
  • Case Management: Maintain records, prepare reports, and communicate with staff, families, and outside agencies regarding inmate needs
  • Reentry Support: Assist with parole planning, facilitate reentry groups, and coordinate care for inmates transitioning to the community
  • Follow-Up Services: Provide continued support to community-placed inmates to ensure ongoing stability
  • Policy Application: Interpret and apply federal, state, departmental, and facility social work policies in daily tasks
  • Investigation Work: Investigate and clarify information related to complaints or allegations of human rights violations

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Two years of experience as a Social Worker 1 or Forensic Social Worker 1 (commonwealth titles) (must have been employed in a commonwealth social worker job title on September 8, 2008, with continuous commonwealth employment); or
  • Two years of experience as a Social Worker 1 or a Forensic Social Worker 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) and a bachelor’s degree in social work or social welfare; or
  • Two years of professional experience providing direct public or private social work services, and a bachelor’s degree in social work or social welfare; or
  • A master's degree in social work or social welfare.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Special Requirement:
  • You must obtain Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) certification within two months of hire and maintain it for the duration of employment in the job.
Other Requirements:
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
