Job summary

Optum in Indianapolis, IN, is seeking a Social Worker – Per Diem to provide medical social services under physician leadership and an interdisciplinary group. You will help patients and families understand social and emotional factors related to health and develop coping strategies.

The position requires an MSW from an CSWE-accredited program and state licensure as a Social Worker, with a valid driver’s license or reliable transportation. CPR certification is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree from CSWE-accredited program.
  • Current driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
  • State licensure as a Social Worker in the required state (IN or equivalent).

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical social services under the direction of a physician and interdisciplinary team.
  • Assist in understanding social and emotional factors related to the patient's health and develop coping strategies.
  • Support patients and families to navigate health care needs and resources.

As the Social Worker – Per Diem, provides medical social services under the direction of a physician and Interdisciplinary Group to assist in the understanding of significant social and emotional factors related to the patient's health status and in development of coping mechanisms.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree from a school of Social Work accredited by the Council of Social Work
  • Current Driver's License, vehicle insurance, and access to a dependable vehicle or public transportation

Additional State Specific Requirements:

  • AL, AR, CA, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, IN, KY, LA, MA, MD, MI, MN, MS, NJ, NM, NV, OH, OR, SC, TX, WI,WV: Licensed as a Social Worker from the State Board of Social Work

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of social work experience in a health care setting
  • Current CPR certification or ability to complete within 90 days of hire
  • Licensed Social Worker in the state of residence

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $31.90 to $47.90 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
