Qualifications

For over fifty years, New York Junior Tennis & Learning (NYJTL) has honored its founder Arthur Ashe’s legacy by celebrating the diversity of children, encouraging them to reach their highest potential through free tennis and academic programs. NYJTL is the largest provider of youth tennis and education programs in the nation, providing services in 100 unique sites across all five boroughs while reaching nearly 90,000 kids. In addition, NYJTL designed, funded (with NYC), built and operates the Cary Leeds Center for Tennis & Learning in the South Bronx. All NYJTL community tennis and after school programs are offered at no cost to its participants.

Position Summary

The Social Work Manager provides professional development, consultation, and programmatic support for NYJTL's network of social workers serving youth in after-school programs across New York City. Utilizing a strengths -based approach and restorative practices, the Social Work Manager coordinates systemwide social work initiatives and supports the effective delivery of services across after-school programs.This position reports to the Chief Education Officer.

The Social Work Manager provides professional development, consultation, and programmatic support for NYJTL's network of social workers serving youth in after-school programs across New York City. Utilizing a strengths-based approach and restorative practices, the Social Work Manager coordinates systemwide social work initiatives and supports the effective delivery of services across DYCD-funded after-school programs.

  • Provide consultation, coaching, professional development, and technicalassistanceto approximately 42 part-time social workers serving NYJTL after-school programs.
  • Conduct regular site visits to support implementation, assess needs, and provide coaching to social workers and program staff.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive professional development plan for social work staff.
  • Facilitate regular social work content convenings, communities of practice, and learning sessions.
  • Design and deliver trainings focused on youth development, trauma-informed care, restorative practices, crisis intervention, family engagement, and related topics.
  • Mentor and coach social workers to strengthen intervention, case management, and programmatic practices.
  • Facilitate a community ofpracticefor social workers to promote collaboration, resource sharing, and continuous learning across ACES sites.
  • Support consistency and quality in the implementation of social work services across all DYCD-funded sites.
Clinical & Programmatic Support:
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for social work-related concerns arising at program sites.
  • Support social workers and site staff in responding to behavioral challenges, crises, and complex family situations.
  • Provide consultation to Site Directors and program leadershipregardingstudent behavior, mental health concerns, family engagement, and crisis response strategies.
  • Provide consultationregardingintervention planning, case management, referrals, and student support strategies.
  • Promote the use of strengths -based, restorative, and culturally responsive practices.
  • Support implementation of social-emotional learning and positive youth development practices aligned with DYCD expectations and NYJTL program goals.
  • Monitor emerging trends and needs across sites and recommend solutions and best practices.
  • Collaborate with Site Directors, Education staff, and program leadership to support student success and well-being.
  • Partner with Operations and Program Leadership teams toidentifytrends, address site needs, and strengthen program quality acrossall ACES.
  • Build strong relationships with students, families, schools, and community partners.
  • Facilitate cross-site collaboration and knowledge-sharing among social work staff.
  • Participate in organizational planning and initiatives related to social-emotional learning and youth development.
Data, Compliance & Evaluation:
  • Ensure documentation and reporting practices meet organizational and funder requirements.
  • Track participation in trainings , convenings, and social work initiatives.
  • Analyze behavioral, attendance, participation, and social-emotional data toidentifytrends and inform professional development and support strategies.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness andidentifyopportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Support compliance with social work ethical standards and confidentiality guidelines.
Qualifications:
  • Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from an accredited school of social workrequired.
  • New York State Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of post-MSW professional experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory, management, or staff development experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working with school-aged youth and families.
  • Experience developing andfacilitatingprofessional development workshops and trainings .
  • Strong knowledge of restorative practices, trauma-informed care, and strengths -based interventions.
  • Exceptional group facilitation, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively and respectfully with diverse populations.
  • Fluency in Spanish, Mandarin, or Russian strongly preferred.
  • SIFI (Seminar in Field Instruction) Certification preferred.
