Job summary

Genesiscareers is seeking a Director of Social Services in West Virginia to lead the Social Services department in a nursing center. You will ensure adherence to NASW Code of Ethics and state/federal guidelines while promoting patient rights and dignity.

The role includes developing policies, evaluating operations, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to provide psychosocial assessments and family education. A WV social work license is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social work or human services required.
• Must possess any certifications/licensures as required by state of employment to practice in long-term care.

Responsibilities

• Join our team as Director of Social Services and foster an environment within the nursing center that enables our patients/residents to maximize their well-being and overall quality of life by creating a climate, policies, and routines that enable patients/residents to maximize their individuality, independence, and dignity.
• Plan, develop, organize, evaluate, and direct the overall operation of the Social Services department in accordance with NASW Code of Ethics and federal, state, and local guidelines.
• You may supervise a staff of up to 2 employees.
• Collaborate with social services staff, interdisciplinary team, and administration to promote and protect patient rights, dignity, independence, and psychological well-being.
• Maintain good working relationships with center employees, meeting with administration and nursing staff to collaborate and plan.
• Assure a comprehensive Psychosocial Assessment is completed for each patient that identifies social, emotional, psychological needs and strengths.
• Educate patients and families regarding their rights and responsibilities, health care decision making/advance directives, effective problem solving, and available community resources.
• Provide therapeutic interventions to assist patients to cope with their transition and adjustment to a nursing center and to address behavior or mood problems
