This opportunity is a Social Services Supervisor in the Licensure unit within MS Department of Child Protection Services. The Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services (MDCPS) is committed to protecting and nurturing Mississippi's at-risk children and families. Manage, develop, and train the resource home licensing team, resource home recruitment team, Wendy's Wonderful Kids team and the Heart Gallery Team while providing ongoing professional supervision; Build a cohesive team and maintain positive employee morale; Review all written documents generated by staff Ensure that the required documents are in the case file. Participate in various collateral and community groups to promote agency programs and to network with the community, creating community linkages and opportunities. Complete various outcome reports as required. Participate in required meetings and training. Provide staff with training, education, ongoing supervision, and support. Ensure adherence to contractual obligations. Handle client, staff, caretaker, and/or collateral complaints and grievances. Participate in agency management meetings and workgroups. Assist CQI in the development of agency documentation to enhance programming and to meet the requirements of policies and procedures. Work to ensure the quality of service and the achievement of program outcome goals. Oversee the operations of the employee selection, training, and orientation processes; Manage the intake and referral process within the program; Stay abreast of all agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements related to Foster Care, Licensing, and State Adoption; Provide direct service in the absence of assigned staff. Manage a 24-hour response system, which may be for foster parent support, referral intake and/or placement needs. Ensure adequate client contact is maintained in accordance with specific program guidelines and the minimum required contact hours are achieved each month. Ensure staff at all levels are monitored for appropriate caseload weight. Closely monitor child and client safety and are appropriately responsive to any situation posing a risk to, or by, a client. Complete and submit performance appraisals in a timely manner. Maintain a positive organizational culture. Perform duties independently. Perform other related duties as assigned. Implement the key areas of the Recruitment Unit, including recruitment, training, support, and retention of foster families. Recruit foster families for foster care, foster/adopt, specifically targeting diverse foster families and foster families that will accept sibling groups, special needs children, and teenagers. Develop and implement detailed recruitment activities for all programs, including providing public speaking at churches, schools, and other community organizations. In cooperation with Communications staff, prepare promotional materials and website materials. Ensure ongoing and scheduled orientation to foster parents using the PATH training. Oversee ongoing education/training to provide foster families with the knowledge needed to promote parenting skills that are reasonable, prudent, and trauma informed. Develop and maintain resources for each service area. Maintain open communication with applicants, foster parents, and agency staff regarding identified needs and concerns. Provide Recruitment Coaching (i.e. de-escalating placement disruptions, avoiding hospitalization, or calling law enforcement) during times of crisis, including during on-call.

Hiring agency preferred qualifications:Requires a Bachelors' Degree and 3-5 years of experience and 1-3 years of supervisory experience, and require MS social worker's license. A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in social work, social services, psychology, educational psychology, sociology, nursing, criminal justice, counseling, marriage and family therapy, family studies, or a related field.
