This Social Service Aide I position will be housed in the Pulaski county office and provide services to the entire Cumberland Service Region: Green, Taylor, Casey, Adair, Russell, Cumberland, Clinton, Wayne, Pulaski, McCreary, Rockcastle, Laurel, Jackson, Clay, Whitley, Knox, Bell, and Harlan counties. The Kentucky Department for Community Based Services (DCBS) is a multi-faceted agency that provides services and programs to enhance the self-sufficiency of families; improve safety and permanency for children and vulnerable adults; and, engage families and community partners in a collaborative decision-making process. DCBS seeks a Social Service Aide I who is driven to succeed in helping people and advance family self- sufficiency. With professionalism and integrity, our agency offers services to families to ensure safe, stable homes for the children of the Commonwealth. The Social Service Aide I is a skilled team member, providing professional assistance to social service workers in meeting the needs of our vulnerable families. The employee is expected to perform at the highest quality to ensure services to the vulnerable citizens. This is a demanding position that requires maturity, self-discipline and ability to work overtime.
The position you are applying for has access to or use of federal tax information (FTI) or meets the statutory definition of front-line staff. EDUCATION: Must have fifty-four (54) semester hours from a college or university.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have two years of experience in providing support services and/or transport services to individuals or families or working with the public.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience working with the public will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess a valid driver's license prior to appointment in this classification. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification. Visits clients and/or families at their residence. Work may involve extensive contact with youth who have been abused, have behavior disorders and/or are status offenders. May run risks of hazards associated with frequent use of automobile.
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
