Because the world our children will create tomorrow is born in the School we build today, our mission is to educate our children so they can surpass us. **POSITION OVERVIEW**The Social Science Instructional Leader will oversee teaching and learning in their department. The Instructional Leader serves on the Instructional Leadership Team of the School, and is responsible for operationalizing Milken’s Educational Philosophy and upholding its Core Values and Mission. The Instructional Leader supervises teachers and develops curriculum in their department to ensure healthy collaboration and high quality instruction. As a member of the Instructional Leadership Team, the Instructional Leader reports directly to the Dean of Faculty.**RESPONSIBILITIES*** Teach two to three classes and advise in one division.* Leads regularly scheduled department meetings.* Sets professional departmental and individual goals with departmental faculty to support an ongoing plan for professional development.* Conducts classroom observations of teachers and offers regular and ongoing written and oral feedback to facilitate professional growth.* Actively participates in all Instructional Leadership Team meetings and training.* Reviews and provides feedback on faculty gradebooks, website presence,, and syllabi.* Work with the Head of Curriculum and Integration on developing curricula.* Evaluate the quality of instruction with respect to standards and expected learning outcomes.* Facilitate the productive use of information resources and technology to enhance teaching and learning.* Collaborate with Division Heads and Chief Curriculum Officer to advise on the course placement process.* Oversee the consistent implementation of departmental and school-wide policies.* Promote and track all faculty communication.* Collaborate with Academic Support Directors and Head of Student Services to support the learning of all students.* Lead sessions for admissions events such as parent coffees, open houses, and feeder school visits.* Manages departmental budget.* Supervise the departmental Signature Program.**QUALIFICATIONS*** Holds a Master’s Degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction or related field, and a minimum of five years of classroom teaching experience.* Educational Leadership experience in a school setting.* Strong sense of commitment to Milken Community School’s mission, core values, and educational philosophy.* Highly knowledgeable in best practices of curriculum, instruction, differentiation, and assessment.**Standard On-Campus Hours** Start: M - F by 7:45 AM End: M - Th 3:30 PM, F 2:30 PM \*All schedules are subject to change.**SALARY RANGE:** $100,000 - $115,000**For a complete overview of our benefits, please visit the Employment page on our website.****Milken strives to be a nurturing, diverse and inclusive community.
