Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta is seeking a Social Recreation Instructor to plan, promote, and implement a diversified social recreation program for youth at our College Park location in Georgia.

Responsibilities include guiding and modeling behavior, developing weekly plans, supervising staff and volunteers, managing supplies, and ensuring safe, engaging activities with strong club teamwork and participation in meetings.

Qualifications

• There is experience working with youth and knowledge of youth development.
• Formal training, and/or experience teaching youth while creating engaging social recreation experiences.
• Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
• Knowledge of youth development.
• Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
• Ability to deal with the general public.
• Ability to plan and implement quality learning programs for youth.
• Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
• Utilizes resources for free and donated supplies and encourages donations from community contacts.

• Insures program area is attractive, neat and clean and bulletin boards and notices are current.
• Makes and/or recommends needed repairs to facility and/or equipment.
• Participates as part of a team to run quality programs by helping out where needed or directed, which may include driving the club van.
• Participates in training/educational opportunities to expand knowledge and skills.

JOB SUMMARY:

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

High School diploma required. College with a major in health and physical education preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

Community-based location that serves youth, families and community members daily. Frequent host site for organizational and communal meetings and events. Frequent contact with employees, community-based organizations, families, Club members, and community members. Some required travel to Club locations and community partners. Frequent deadlines. Atypical work schedule, including evening and weekend work. The position requires walking and climbing stairs; Light work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
