Job summary

Datadog is seeking a growth-focused storyteller to own the voice and publishing cadence for its developer channels, shaping how developers engage with the brand. You’ll expand reach across platforms and convert engineering work into compelling content, with a data-driven attribution model guiding trials and signups.

This builder role sits in the Product org, collaborating with product and engineering peers to move fast, measure impact, and grow a technical audience at scale.

Qualifications

  • Background is open. Tech, consumer, sports, entertainment, media. It doesn't matter whether you came from engineering, growth, marketing, B2C, or something unrelated.
  • Preferred: short-form video you produced yourself, an existing audience, prior work with a technical or enthusiast audience, comfort on camera.
  • You’ve grown an audience and can point to outcomes your content moved.

Responsibilities

  • Own the voice, editorial standard, and publishing cadence for Datadog's developer channels (@datadogdevs on X, Datadog Developers on LinkedIn).
  • Expand into Reddit, YouTube, Discord, Bluesky, dev.to, Hacker News, and other platforms as justified.
  • Turn shipped engineering work into content people want to read and watch (releases, changelogs, industry news).
  • Build the attribution model connecting what you publish to trials and signups.
  • Run real experiments with hypotheses, readouts, and data-driven decisions.
  • Lead the developer content engine around events.
  • Encourage internal authors to post and feature external developers' voices.
  • Track developer sentiment about Datadog and competitors and feed insights back to product and growth.

Job description

Reports to: Head of Developer Growth

  • New York, NY

NOTE: This is not a traditional marketing role, it's a growth role that reports into the Product org.

We're hiring someone to speak to, and interact with, our developer audience the way the best consumer brands build audiences, with a real voice, a point of view, and the speed to act on both. You'll own where and how we show up in the places developers actually spend time, run our developer social channels, expand into new ones, and build the tooling and measurement behind it.

This is a builder role, not simply a coordination role.

What You'll Own
  • Own the voice, editorial standard, and publishing cadence for Datadog's developer channels (@datadogdevs on X, Datadog Developers on LinkedIn)
  • Expand into the places developers actually spend time: Reddit, YouTube, Discord, Bluesky, http://dev.to , Hacker News, and whatever you make the case for.
  • Turn shipped engineering work into things people want to read and watch. Releases, changelogs, topical industry news, and more.
  • Build the attribution model connecting what you publish to trials and signups
  • Run real experiments: a hypothesis, a readout, and the willingness to move forward if something doesn’t work out as expected
  • Lead the developer content engine around events
  • Get other people posting - Datadog engineers under their own names, and developers outside the company. Hear from real peers in the space.
  • Track what developers are saying about us and our competitors, and route it back to product and growth
Who You Are
  • You've grown an audience
  • You can point to outcomes your content moved, not just reach
  • You're a strong writer with a distinctive voice, and you know the difference between writing about an audience and writing for one
  • You have opinions about formats, platforms, and pacing, and you change them when the algorithms demand it
  • You know what ships now and what needs a second set of eyes
  • You're a vibe poster (or coder) and you know how to build hype
  • You're comfortable with tools and automation, and you'd rather build a workflow than repeat a task
Background is open.

Tech, consumer, sports, entertainment, media. It doesn't matter whether you came from engineering, growth, marketing, B2C, or something unrelated. Show us what you shipped and what it moved.

Preferred:

short-form video you produced yourself, an existing audience of your own, prior work with a technical or enthusiast audience, comfort on camera, and ideas about what to build with other teams, partners, and integrations.

What We Provide

This role sits in the Product org, so you'll have product and engineering peers, the flexibility to make asks, move quickly, and work directly with the audience we're trying to reach.
