Job summary

Obsidian Entertainment is seeking a Contract Social Media Content Creator to join our Communications team in Irvine, CA for a six-month engagement with potential extension. You will work with our Social Media Manager to capture gameplay footage and turn it into platform-native content for our social channels.

Responsibilities include producing short-form vertical videos for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, editing to brand guidelines, and supporting campaigns with timely content.

Job description

Obsidian Entertainment seeks a creative and skilled Contract Social Media Content Creator to work with our Communications team. The Social Media Content Creator will work closely with our Social Media Manager to capture compelling gameplay footage and transform it into engaging, platform-native content for our social channels. The contract duration is expected for six months, with potential for extension.

Responsibilities

• Capture high-quality gameplay footage using development hardware and capture tools for social media, developer diaries, and other communications needs
• Create and edit engaging content including short-form vertical videos for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and other social platforms supporting multiple Obsidian brands
• Provide dedicated gameplay capture and editing support during key campaigns, announcements, launches, and other high-priority communications moments
• Maintain an organized library of evergreen and reactive-ready video content that can be quickly deployed around social conversations, trends, and community moments
• Edit content in accordance with established brand guidelines, creative direction, and platform best practices
• Collaborate with the Social Media Manager to identify opportunities to adapt gameplay, announcements, and other moments into compelling short-form content
• Provide additional gameplay capture support for GIFs, screenshots, and other social and communications content as needed

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience creating and editing short-form vertical video for platforms such as TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts
• Strong understanding of social media content formats, pacing, trends, and platform best practices
• Ability to manage multiple content requests and deliver high-quality work within established timelines
• Strong organization and communication skills
• Receptive to creative direction and feedback from Communications and project teams

Pluses

• Experience capturing gameplay using in-engine tools, development kits, or development builds
• Experience working with CapCut, Adobe After Effects, and Adobe Premiere Pro
• Experience creating social content for games or entertainment brands
• Familiarity with creating GIFs, screenshots, and other social-first visual assets

The estimated base pay range for this role is:

• $30 - 35.50 /hour
