Job summary

MSTG (Music, Science, Technology Group) is seeking warm, reliable SEL facilitators to launch an SEL component in its afterschool program for K–6 at a public elementary school. Training and curriculum guidance will be provided by the SEL Director and founder of Love School.

This part-time, on-site role offers roughly 20–25 hours weekly with Monday–Friday scheduling 12:30–4:30 PM and ongoing professional development.

• Assist with classroom community-building and model restorative approaches to communication and conflict.
• Collaborate with MSTG teaching staff to support student well-being and a positive classroom environment.
• Participate in regular training, coaching, and reflective practice with the SEL Director.
• Complete a brief daily facilitator log documenting lessons and engagement.

Position Overview

MSTG (Music, Science, Technology Group) is seeking warm, reliable, and enthusiastic Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Facilitators to help launch a new SEL component within its afterschool enrichment program, serving students in grades K–6 at a public elementary school.

The SEL program is being developed and led by the SEL Director and founder of Love School, who will provide facilitators with ongoing training, curriculum guidance, coaching, and feedback.

This is an ideal opportunity for college students, emerging educators, and individuals interested in education, youth development, psychology, social work, or related fields who want hands‑on experience supporting children’s social and emotional growth in a school-based setting.

SEL Facilitators will work directly with students through engaging SEL lessons, small‑group and individual support, community‑building activities, and restorative practices. Facilitators will collaborate with MSTG teaching staff and receive ongoing training, curriculum guidance, coaching, and feedback from the SEL Director.

Prior expertise in SEL is not required. We’re looking for people who enjoy working with children, are curious and eager to learn, and can bring warmth, consistency, cultural responsiveness, and a grounded presence to the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with MSTG teaching staff to support student well‑being and a positive classroom environment.
• Participate in regular training, professional development, coaching, and reflective practice with the SEL Director.
• Complete a brief daily facilitator log documenting lessons, student engagement, notable observations, and areas for follow‑up.

Training & Professional Development

Facilitators will receive ongoing training and support in:

• Social‑emotional learning and child development.
• Culturally responsive and relationship‑centered approaches to working with young people.
• Restorative practices and conflict navigation.
• Group facilitation techniques.
• Weekly curriculum preparation and lesson modeling.
• Supporting students through emotional and interpersonal challenges.
• Reflective practice, collaboration, and problem‑solving.

The specific weekly training schedule will be developed in collaboration with facilitators based on availability.

Who We’re Looking For

This role may be a great fit for college students and emerging professionals studying or interested in education, child development, psychology, social work, counseling, youth development, or related fields.

Previous experience working with children or young people—in schools, afterschool programs, camps, tutoring, mentoring, childcare, or similar settings—is preferred.
