Job summary

The YMCA of Central Massachusetts is seeking a part-time Soccer Coach to plan and lead 7-8 week youth soccer programs for ages 5-12 in Worcester. You will work with the Youth Development and Sports Programming Director to ensure each class meets participants’ needs and progresses through higher-level offerings.

Responsibilities include creating curriculum, fostering a safe, positive learning environment, and delivering excellent member service during Sunday sessions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum age of 18
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certification
  • Experience working with children ages 5-12
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Description

The Soccer Coach will be responsible in planning class structures for 7-8-week programs based in soccer skill development for kids ages 5-12. Each class is based on skill level, and the goal of the coach is to train each participant to grow and progress through our higher-level classes. The coach will work with the Youth Development and Sports Programming Director to assure that all needs are being met and that all classes and activities are meeting the needs of the participants.

This position is responsible for preparing and leading students through a youth sports curriculum, while building team relationships, fostering confidence, and guiding appropriate behavior in a safe environment. This position requires the ability to be innovative, adaptable, adventurous and creative.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Attend monthly coach's meetings.
  • Structure a 7-8-week program curriculum
  • Demonstrating the YMCA's mission while coaching.
  • Create a positive learning environment for young athletes.
  • Maintains a safe, clean environment, while tactfully enforcing all rules and policies of the branch
  • Builds relationships and delivers outstanding customer service to members including answering questions and providing relevant branch related information
  • Ensures ongoing communication with relevant staff and reports any incidents/accidents with proper documentation
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum age of 18
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification
  • Experience working with children ages 5-12
  • Knowledge of terms and vocabulary of competitive sports
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Job Type:

Part-Time (Non-Exempt)

Schedule:

Sundays from 12pm-1pm

Pay:

$15.00/hour Plus, access to YMCA facilities for all YMCA employees, Employee Assistance Program, and Sick Leave
