Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Market Sector Leader for the Southern California transit practice, based in Irvine. The role combines client development, pursuit leadership, and delivery oversight across planning, environmental, and engineering services for bus, rail, and related programs.

The successful candidate will mentor staff, shape the growth strategy, and build executive‑level client relationships, coordinating resources across HDR to deliver high‑impact transit solutions.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of transit planning, environmental, design, program management, or related professional services.
• Executive-level relationships with transit agencies in Southern California.
• Proven success leading multidisciplinary transit projects and pursuits.
• Experience with program management and advisory services for capital programs.
• Knowledge of NEPA/CEQA, FTA funding processes and public transit governance.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Southern California Transit Market Sector strategy and annual planning.
• Develop relationships with senior transit leaders and key stakeholders.
• Oversee pursuit planning, capture strategies, and client development.
• Coordinate with HDR leaders to assemble teams and ensure delivery quality.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related field

Professional registration or certification (PE, AICP, PMP, DBIA)
