Job description

Spanish River Christian School is seeking compassionate, energetic, and faith‑driven Summer Camp Counselors to support our summer camp program for students in grades K-5. Counselors are responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and Christ‑centered environment where children can grow academically, socially, spiritually, and emotionally through engaging summer activities.

The ideal candidate demonstrates a love for working with children, strong leadership abilities, and a commitment to modeling Christian values in both words and actions.

This position is seasonal. The hours are 8:00am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday. The summer camp runs for 5 weeks. Candidates do not have to be available to work all 5 weeks. All offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a background check and drug screening.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise campers at all times to ensure their safety, well‑being, and positive participation
  • Lead and assist with daily camp activities, including Bible lessons or devotionals, arts and crafts, sports, games, academic enrichment, music, and outdoor recreation
  • Foster a loving, respectful, Christ‑centered atmosphere that reflects the school's mission and values
  • Encourage teamwork, kindness, respect, and positive behavior among campers
  • Serve as a Christian role model by demonstrating patience, integrity, compassion, and servant leadership
  • Support camp staff, teachers, and activity leaders with lesson preparation and daily schedules
  • Assist with camper check‑in, attendance, and dismissal procedures
  • Address minor behavioral concerns using grace, wisdom, and age‑appropriate guidance
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe activity spaces
  • Communicate professionally and warmly with parents, staff, and students
Qualifications
  • High school diploma required; college students or degree candidates in education, ministry, child development, recreation, or related field preferred
  • Prior experience working with children in schools, churches, camps, vacation Bible school, or childcare settings preferred
  • A personal commitment to the Christian faith and willingness to support the mission and values of the school
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred
  • Must pass required background screening and school clearance checks
