Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Data Engineer to design and operate scalable data pipelines in Snowflake on AWS, focusing on Life Sciences data workflows. You will build ETL/ELT processes, implement DBT models, and ensure data quality and governance across cloud environments.

The role requires hands-on experience with Snowflake, AWS, DBT, Python, PySpark, and Unix/Linux, plus strong SQL and data modeling skills. Opportunities include data migration and modernization initiatives.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake Data Warehouse.
• Expertise in AWS Cloud Services and cloud-based data architecture.
• Experience with DBT (Data Build Tool) for data transformation and modeling.
• Proficiency in Python and PySpark for data processing and automation.
• Strong understanding of ETL/ELT frameworks, data integration, and pipeline orchestration.
• Experience with Unix/Linux scripting and environment management.
• Knowledge of SQL optimization, data modeling, and database design principles.
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices and version control tools such as Git.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Snowflake, AWS, Python, and PySpark.
• Build and optimize ETL/ELT processes across multiple source systems.
• Develop data transformation models using DBT and ensure data quality and governance.
• Work with AWS services (S3, Glue, Lambda, EMR, Redshift) and other cloud data services.
• Design and optimize Snowflake data warehouses, including schema design and performance tuning.
• Monitor and troubleshoot data workflows for reliability and timeliness.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, analysts, and apps teams to define data needs.
• Support data migration and modernization within Life Sciences environments.
