Mackinnon Bruce International collaborates with a global data engineering, analytics and AI consultancy to place a senior Snowflake architect in the United States. The role requires advisory capabilities at board level while delivering hands-on Snowflake design and implementation.

The candidate will define reference architectures, lead modernization programs, mentor teams, and build scalable, AI-ready Snowflake ecosystems with strong focus on governance, cost control and security.

Formación

• 15+ years in data architecture, data engineering or enterprise data modernization.
• 5+ years hands-on Snowflake architecture in production environments.
• Deep Snowflake expertise: virtual warehouses, Time Travel, secure data sharing, Snowpipe, Dynamic Tables, cost optimization.
• Strong SQL and Python, with dbt and CI/CD practices.
• Executive communication and stakeholder management experience.

MBI are currently partnered with a global data engineering, analytics and AI consultancy that helps enterprises modernize their data estates and prepare them for AI. With a growing pipeline of Snowflake programs across industries, they are looking for a senior architect who can advise at board level and still get hands on.

Can you design a Snowflake platform that is ready for AI and still keeps the cost under control?

If you have spent 15 or more years in data architecture and at least five of them designing production Snowflake platforms for large enterprises, this could be the opportunity you have been looking for. Our client does not need an architect who works only in slides, or an engineer who has never faced a steering committee. They need someone who does both and mentors the team around them.

The Role

Based in the United States, you will define reference architectures, guide platform conversion programs and advise business and technology leaders on secure, scalable, cost efficient and AI ready Snowflake ecosystems. You will lead workshops and solution reviews, support proposals for strategic opportunities, and build the reusable patterns and accelerators that raise the standard of delivery across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Define target state Snowflake architecture across ingestion, storage, transformation, consumption, governance, observability and AI enablement
• Design enterprise scale platforms covering workload isolation, resource monitors, secure data sharing and cost governance
• Architect AI ready data foundations for analytics, machine learning, GenAI and governed retrieval augmented generation, using Cortex AI, Snowpark and vector search where they fit
• Lead modernization and conversion programs from platforms such as Teradata, Oracle, Netezza, SQL Server, Hadoop, Redshift and Synapse, including coexistence, validation, cutover and rollback patterns
• Architect ELT, ETL and CDC pipelines using Snowpipe, Streams, Tasks, Dynamic Tables, dbt and cloud native services
• Define governance and security through RBAC, masking and row access policies, tagging, lineage and audit controls
• Optimize workloads through query profiling, warehouse right sizing and compute cost controls, and set standards for observability and operational excellence
• Lead architecture workshops, executive presentations and proposal solutioning, and mentor architects and engineers

Ideal Background

• 15 to 18 or more years in data architecture, data engineering or enterprise data modernization
• 5 or more years of hands on Snowflake architecture and implementation in production enterprise environments
• Deep Snowflake expertise, including virtual warehouses, clustering, Time Travel, zero copy cloning, secure data sharing, Snowpipe, Dynamic Tables, Iceberg Tables, Snowpark and cost optimization
• Strong grasp of Snowflake security and governance, including RBAC, network policies, masking, row access policies and access history
• Strong SQL and Python, with dbt or equivalent transformation tools, CI/CD, Git and DataOps practices
• Experience with dimensional, Data Vault, lakehouse, semantic layer and data product architectures
• Working knowledge of AWS, Azure or GCP data services and secure cloud integration
• Executive communication, consulting and stakeholder management skills
• SnowPro Advanced Architect certification preferred, and experience with Cortex AI, vector search, RAG architecture or responsible AI controls is a plus
• Exposure to Databricks, Spark, Kafka, Airflow, Fivetran or Terraform is an advantage

Package

This business offers up to $220,000 base salary, plus a 30% bonus. Both elements are negotiable, depending on the experience the successful candidate brings.
