Job summary

Sports Basement is hiring a Ski/Snowboard Tech in Los Angeles to keep customers' gear mountain-ready. You will edge and wax skis and snowboards, mount bindings, perform light repairs, and follow the shop workboard, communicating status to Leads and Managers.

Safety, organization, and customer service are emphasized in a fast-paced, friendly shop environment. The role offers seasonal, part-time and full-time options, with starting wages between $18.50 and $22 per hour, non-exempt.

Qualifications

• Previous ski/snowboard shop, tech, or related industry experience (preferred, but not required).
• Knowledge of ski and snowboard equipment, edges, wax, and bindings.
• Good with tools and mechanically inclined.
• Follow the shop workboard and complete work orders accurately and on time.
• Strong verbal and written communication with customers and staff.
• Basic computer skills.
• Flexibility and adaptability as workload changes day to day.
• Must lift 40 pounds, bend repeatedly, and stand for most of an 8-hour shift.
• Commitment to safety and maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
• Time management and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Edge and wax skis and snowboards to manufacturer and shop specs.
• Mount bindings on skis and snowboards accurately and safely.

• Inspect gear for damage and flag issues to Lead or Manager.
• Follow the shop workboard to prioritize daily orders.

• Report unsafe conditions promptly.

Salary: $18.50-$22, non-exempt position. Specific starting wages are dependent on location and experience .Level 1

What you'll do

A Ski/Snowboard Tech keeps our customers' gear ready for the mountain and understands what makes Sports Basement's shop awesome and unique. You edge and wax skis and snowboards, mount bindings, and handle light repair work with care and precision. You follow the shop workboard to keep jobs moving and communicate clearly with your Lead and Manager on status and priorities. You work safely at all times and are comfortable and confident with the tools of the trade. You take pride in a clean, organized shop and in handing back gear that's ready to perform. Depending on the needs of the store, other duties may be assigned from time to time.

Customer Service

• Proactively improve your skills and product knowledge through SB/vendor training, product use, and participation in those activities.
• Customers find you approachable and are comfortable coming to you with questions, concerns, or issues.
• Be an expert in home zone/department and proficient in one other department to provide excellent on-the-spot customer service.
• Learn to implement SB's Security Policy.

Operations and Repair Work

• Edge and wax skis and snowboards to manufacturer and shop specifications.
• Mount bindings on skis and snowboards accurately and safely.
• Perform light repair work on skis, snowboards, and related equipment.
• Use shop tools and equipment properly and keep them in good working order.
