Green Lawn Light Care Inc. is seeking a reliable Snow Removal Sidewalk Crew Member to join our winter operations team in West Lafayette, IN.

This on-site, seasonal role works with crew leaders to clear snow and ice from sidewalks, walkways, and entryways across properties, with shifts that are weather-dependent and may include nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays. Responsibilities include operating small machinery safely, applying de-icing agents, and keeping trucks and tools organized

Qualifications

• Experience in snow removal or winter property management preferred but not required
• Punctual, dependable and available on short notice for winter shifts
• Ability to stand, walk, lift, bend, and twist for long periods
• Comfort working outdoors in extreme winter weather conditions

Responsibilities

• Shovel snow and clear pedestrian paths to ensure safe foot traffic
• De-icing: distribute salt, calcium chloride, or sand using hand-held or walk-behind spreaders
• Operate and maintain small machinery (walk-behind snowblowers, snow throwers, powered sweepers)
• Keep trucks, trailers, and shovels organized and load/unload gear at start/end of shifts
• Clear snow from tight spaces, steps, decks, and emergency exits
• Ensure job sites are clean and safe before moving to the next property
• Collaborate with crew leaders and dispatchers to meet deadlines during severe weather

This is a vital winter position requiring extreme flexibility, as shifts are weather-dependent and frequently occur during late nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays.

Pay Rate

$18 -20/hour or "Competitive pay based on experience"

Core Responsibilities

• Property Maintenance & Snow Care: Efficiently shovel snow, clear pedestrian paths, and clear building entryways to ensure safe foot traffic and deliver a clean, professional finish
• De-Icing Operations: Manually load, transport, and distribute de-icing agents like salt, calcium chloride, or sand using hand-held or walk-behind spreaders to prevent dangerous ice accumulation
• Equipment Operation & Safety: Safely operate and maintain commercial-grade small machinery, including walk-behind snowblowers, single-seat snow throwers, or powered sweepers. Report any mechanical issues immediately
• Truck & Tool Upkeep: Take pride in keeping company trucks, trailers, and shovels organized, clean, and free of waste. Help load/unload gear neatly at the start and end of every winter storm event to prevent tool damage and loss
• Tight Space Navigation: Clear snow meticulously from tight, elevated, or high-risk areas, including steps, decks, crosswalks, and emergency exit doors
• Site Quality Control: Ensure all job sites are left clean, safe, and immaculate before moving to the next property on the winter route
• Team Collaboration: Maintain a positive attitude, communicate effectively with crew leaders and dispatchers, and work productively alongside team members to hit contract deadlines during severe weather

Requirements

• Experience: Prior experience in snow removal, winter property management, landscaping, or outdoor physical labor is preferred, but not required. We are fully prepared to train individuals who possess a strong work ethic and an eye for safety
• Reliability & Responsibility: Punctual, dependable, and dedicated to showing up for winter storm shifts on short notice. Demonstrates personal responsibility for cleaning personal tools and helping maintain the crew's vehicle
• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, lift, bend, and twist for long periods, handle constant physical activity, and repeatedly lift heavy objects weighing 50 to 75 lbs (such as wet snow and heavy salt bags)
• Environmental Tolerance: Comfort working entirely outdoors in extreme, hazardous seasonal weather conditions (freezing winter environments, wind, heavy snow, and ice)
