Job summary

Barnes, Inc. in Madison, WI is seeking dependable Snow Removal Machine Operators to join our winter team.

You'll operate skid steers, loaders, tractors or similar equipment to clear snow from parking lots and drives and keep properties safe and accessible. This on-call, weather-dependent post requires flexibility for days, nights, weekends and holidays; reporting to work during snow events, performing pre/post inspections, and communicating with supervisors.

Qualifications

  • Experience operating skid steers, loaders, tractors, or similar equipment.
  • Ability to safely operate equipment in snow, ice, low visibility, and changing winter conditions.
  • Dependable and able to report to work when snow events occur.
  • Ability to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays depending on weather conditions.
  • Snow-removal experience is helpful, but dependable equipment operators are encouraged to apply.

Barnes, Inc. is looking for dependable Snow Removal Machine Operators to join our snow team for the upcoming winter season. Operators help keep our commercial properties safe and accessible by clearing snow efficiently and safely during winter weather events.


What You'll Do


  • Operate snow-removal equipment such as skid steers, loaders, tractors, or similar equipment

  • Clear snow from parking lots, drives, loading areas, and other designated areas

  • Follow assigned routes and site-specific instructions

  • Perform basic equipment inspections before and after use

  • Report equipment issues, property damage, or unsafe conditions promptly

  • Work safely around vehicles, pedestrians, buildings, and other snow-removal crews

  • Communicate with supervisors throughout each snow event

  • Help deliver the reliable, high‑quality service Barnes customers expect


What We're Looking For


  • Experience operating skid steers, loaders, tractors, or similar equipment preferred

  • Ability to safely operate equipment in snow, ice, low visibility, and changing winter conditions

  • Dependable and able to report to work when snow events occur

  • Ability to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays depending on weather conditions

  • Strong attention to safety and surroundings

  • Ability to follow directions and work independently

  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record when driving is required for the position

  • Snow-removal experience is helpful, but dependable equipment operators are encouraged to apply


The Nature of Snow Work

Snow doesn't follow a 9-to-5 schedule. This is an on-call, weather-dependent position, and hours will vary based on snowfall and customer needs. Operators must be able to respond when called and may work extended shifts during significant snow events.
