Job summary

Vail Resorts in Colorado's Crested Butte is seeking Snow Cat Operators for the winter season 2026/2027. You will operate snow cat grooming equipment to maintain resort snow surface and support safety on slopes.

Starting wage is $22.00/hr to $27.70/hr, with full-time hours available. Housing is not provided, and applicants must be at least 18 years old. This seasonal role embodies the company’s commitment to exceptional guest experiences on the mountain.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of snow grooming experience required.
• Valid driver's license with no restrictions.
• Must be able to communicate fluently in English.
• Ability to work in small groups as well as independently.
• Able to sit for extended periods while operating the snowcat and climb on/off frequently.
• Knowledge in 2-way radio use and various codes.

Responsibilities

• Operate snow/slope grooming equipment, such as a snowcat, to maintain resort snow trails and ski slopes.
• Understand the use, operation, and maintenance of heavy grooming equipment.
• Maintain safety and knowledge of the mountain.
• Perform basic inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Communicate clearly via 2-way radio and with shop mechanics.
• Collaborate with coworkers and other departments to maintain good working relationships.
